At Berkshire Hills Music Academy, we are proud to support our participants as they explore vocational opportunities that align with their passions and talents. From broadcasting to storytelling to photography, our students are making meaningful contributions in their chosen fields. Here are three inspiring vocational experiences from our BHMA community.

Ethan: DJ Seagull on the Airwaves Ethan, better known as DJ Seagull, has been making waves in the local radio scene. Heard across the valley on Rock 102 and Lazer 99.3, Ethan is actively pursuing his dream career in broadcasting. Taking initiative, he has been reaching out to radio stations to learn more about their operations and broadcasting procedures. His dedication has led him to visit several stations, including the Saga stations in Springfield and WMUA at UMass Amherst. Looking ahead, he eagerly anticipates visiting Free Valley Radio and the Saga station in Northampton, where an exciting opportunity to work regularly in radio may soon be on the horizon. Here’s hoping for a bright future on the airwaves!

Mary: Spreading Joy Through Storytelling Mary's love for storytelling and music shines in her work as a children’s entertainer. She sings classic children’s songs and reads beloved books to families at local daycares, the YMCA, the Gaylord Library in South Hadley, and the renowned Eric Carle Museum. Her impact has been deeply felt by the children and teachers she engages with. In a heartfelt Valentine’s Day gesture, Mary received three oversized, decorated cards from the students and teachers at the Holyoke YMCA, who even incorporated beads to create a braille message for her. Her work continues to bring warmth, joy, and inclusivity to young listeners in the community.

Connor: Capturing Nature’s Beauty Connor's passion for the natural world is evident in his photography business, ‘Spectrum Inspired Photography.’ As an avid wildlife and nature photographer, Connor’s work is currently on display at Batch’s ice cream store in South Hadley, where visitors can admire his expressive photographic series on a captivating goose. Since 2019, he has been refining his craft, always striving to capture sharper, more vivid images of birds and nature’s wonders. His dedication to his art can be followed on Instagram @spectruminspiredphotography, where he shares breathtaking glimpses of the world through his lens.

Ethan, Mary, and Connor demonstrate the dedication and initiative that BHMA strives to foster in all of our participants. We are excited to see how their vocational experiences continue to grow and evolve.
